Great location, great food, great staff. Great other guests! We met some lovely fellow travellers at this wonderful place. Idyllic enjoying a glass of wine on your own balcony overlooking a beautiful vista. Pottery, trekking, henna and did I mention trekking!

Wildernest is as wonderful & rustic as I’d expected. Nestled in the pristine mountains there’s peace and tranquility here. Best place to detox. No mobiles, no TV. No tea kettle in the room. Excitement starts right from being transported by an open funicular (cable car) steep up the slope into their reception. The staff here is Maharashtrian Konkani or Goan. Polite, cooperative, disciplined and very committed. The resort has a lot of activity - like mehendi, pottery, trekking, bird watching entertainment etc. Our pottery teacher was a smiling, hearing & speech impaired young soul hailing from a village nearby. Speaks volumes about the resort management’s approach. Kudos! The cottages are airy, with a large bed, a hot shower & bowls of fragrant Utane & Shikakai powders. Cottages are distanced, at various levels separated by red stone steps & walkaways. Walking up & down the red stone steps to the cottage was a very good exercise. I could meet my daily targets just by going for breakfast, lunch & dinner. I took this as an opportunity to break the morning tea habit. Treks brought back an active lifestyle. And pottery helped me rekindle that artist in me. The infinity pool is aesthetic & designed for non swimmers. After a hearty swim, it’s time for a healthy breakfast - poha, upma, cornflakes & milk, bournvita, eggs to order, besides sprouted moong. For lunch & dinner gorge on authentic Goan and Kokani (rich Saraswat style) traditional food is laid out in clay pots. Veg and non-veg dishes accompanied by typical sweets like ragi halwa, manganae (मनगणं) & rice (kheers) remind you of grandma’s times. Every evening folk dances performed by perfectly draped, young konkani girls keep you marvelling at their skills of balancing the heavy brass lights (समई) on their heads while dancing. Visiting this resort for a detox every quarter is necessary. I’m planning to take my entire family here in the monsoons. Probably the best time, with mist, waterfalls, fresh greenery. If Wildernest is full, ask them for their very own Swapnagandha resort, half a km away.

A truly unique experience that certainly has the wow factor. From the moment you arrive and are transported up the valley on the steep funicular, with the most spectacular views of the valley below and surrounding hills, we just knew we had made the right choice in booking. We had a valley view room and as soon as you enter you see the panoramic view of the valley. Though fairly basic it did have a kettle and tea coffee and water were provided. It would have been nice to have a small fridge to keep drinks cool. The bed was large and comfortable and the ensuite shower room was spacious and well appointed and had a powerful shower. The staff were all lovely and very polite and helpful. There was an excellent selection on the buffet for all meals with lots of authentic Goan and Indian options. We were there for 3 nights and there was always something different each day. Beware of the cheeky monkeys who sometimes come at meal times and try to pinch food if you sit outside. There is a small reasonably priced bar too, plus they have folk dancing each evening before dinner, The infinity pool is one of the best we have seen and to wallow with your arms over the ledge enjoying the spectacular view is awesome. There are sunset and sunrise nature walks, but they are quite steep so not for the feint hearted. We did the sunset one but as we are getting on a bit and not the fittest, we decided to forego the early morning waterfall trek as it is apparently quite steep and you have to climb over boulders! There are a couple of level walks from the resort itself, so we did not feel we had missed out. The resort itself is quite ‘rustic’ but that adds to the charm of the place. We highly recommend a stay here as it’s great to escape the hustle and bustle of the beach.

Hotel location is excellent and facilities are also ok. But food needs to be improved drastically its pretty average right now. Also no kettle is available in room for tea/coffee for anything you need to come to restaurant. No TV in the rooms. Rooms are clean and maintained nicely

There are distinctive differences in the amenities of the rooms that are given when you are checking in. Like there is no fridge or even a kettle in the rooms which is not briefed by the staff. Terrible in room experience
